Hello Spring

I'm joining a wonderful group of bloggers for a Hello Spring Blog Tour.

You'll find the links to the other blogs at the end of this post and if you're visiting from one of the other blogs, thanks for stopping by.

We actually had a winter this year so like most of you, I am thrilled that spring weather is finally here.

The harsh winds and heavy rain have abated and I am busy getting our house ready for outdoor living.

Spring is happening in the house,

but the majority of my time is spent in taming the jungle that popped up in our garden due to rain, rain, rain and more rain.

The first section I tackled was the side of the house and there is still much to do, but at least we can walk down the sidewalk.

Steve is happy that the weather once again allows him to sit on the bench in the sun each afternoon.

This little spot under the living room window was a disaster, but it's coming along nicely -

an old red chair (found on the side of a street) adds colorful height to the space.

Far and away my favorite spring change is my little garden house.

I wanted to use it as more than a shed for holding tchotchkes so I created a fun little library for myself using whatever I could find around the house.

The denim chair cover had been hiding in the attic and it is simply thrown over a plastic garden chair.

The house is tiny, but there is just enough room for a little table.

I would love to say that I have been spending my days sitting in the little garden house, but the jungle is calling.

Fortunately, I love working in the garden

and then stepping back to see what I have accomplished.

And now let's see what everyone else is up to this spring.

  10. Your little library closet reminds me of a much smaller version of the neighborhood lending libraries one sees occasionally along our streets.

  16. I have a ridiculous amount of yard work to do too. It's hard work, but to be out in the sun and to see progress being made is nice. I love, love, love your she shed library! What a wonderful space! I also love your little red chair turned flower stand! I'm going to have to keep my eye out on garbage day for thrown out chairs.

  17. Your yard is just as gorgeous as your house! I love the look you have going. I could never have that here due to the fact that we have snakes and there would be so many places for them to hide. I will just enjoy looking at your beautiful yards. :)

  18. Carol, I always think of CA as having the ideal winter weather, so it surprises me to read that you have to "clean up" your garden. Ha! That is exactly what is taking up most days around here. I've gotten a lot accomplished, but there is more to do. Plenty more! I love seeing your charming courtyard and the spring blooms. Enjoy the fruits of your labors. Happy Spring!

  22. I always love touring your cottage Carol, and I still can't believe I was there recently. As lovely as your photos are, I think your cottage is even prettier in person, with all of Steve's vibrant, colorful art all over. I can't believe how much you've accomplished in the garden too-and it's only March!

  28. Carol,
Oh, how beautiful your garden and garden shed are for Spring! I love the denim slipcover... you know I am a blue-lover. Your little yellow mailbox on your garden shed with the flowers calls my name. Hmmm.... making a note to add something like that to my garden shed.

Love being on a Spring blog tour with you.

  36. It's so nice to visit your charming cottage in sunny California, Carol. It's gray and gloomy and cold up north, so it's a pleasure to view the pretty photos of your gardens and your home. And your she shed is such a fun little escape right in your backyard! Thank you so much for taking us along on your spring home tour!

  39. Hi Carol :)

I was wondering what all that rain was going to do for your garden. It may be a jungle, but it's a beautiful one with all the growth. Of course it always is anyway :) I'll bet it's a lot of fun work though. The cover thrown over the plastic chair is genius. I never would have thought of it.

Anyway, enjoy the wonderful Spring weather!
