Welcome to Day 1 of the Creating Christmas Link Party hosted by Jann of Have a Daily Cup of Mrs. Olson.
I have been busy for several weeks Creating Christmas at our house -
from the entry
to the kitchen
and the dining room.
Changes were made in the guest room,
the living room
and our bedroom.
Christmas is everywhere.
Yet, it is so much more than just decorations.
I've been "creating Christmas" for my family for 45 years and the stockings I made in 1971
now have companions to accommodate our larger family.
This ugly Santa, all tattered and torn
has been a part of my Christmas since I was a child.
A vintage copy of A Christmas Carol just looks like at old book,
but it belonged to my 92 year old aunt who passed it on to me.
Maileg pixies look cute in a little rocking chair
that belonged to my grandfather
while my grandmother's school slate is tucked into a vignette in the kitchen.
This little book sitting on the tray
was purchased by Steve for his mother, Virginia, as one of her last Christmas gifts.
Although I have quite a collection of Maileg pixies,
these two are dear to my heart because they were purchased on a special vacation.
I know you too have been busy creating Christmas around your house,
so please join the party - there is a different theme each day.
Head on over to Let's Add Sprinkles to see Katie's beautiful Christmas trees.

Today our wonderful host, Jann, of Have a Daily Cup of Mrs. Olson is sharing Christmas Crafting and Cooking.
For our final day of Creating Christmas, visit Camp and Cottage Living for Creative Christmas Porches.
The parties will stay open until December 24 and you're welcome to come back and link up again and again.
I love all of your vignettes and how they each include a special piece for you and Steve. I think I'll link up my Santa post from last year.
ReplyDeleteCarol, Your home is full of all sorts of Christmas charm!
ReplyDeleteI love your special crocheted stockings and all of your special gifts from Christmas past and present.
Carol, you create Christmas so wonderfully! I love the items that have special meaning tucked in here or there. Your home is just delightful! I have a post already, but something is not good between linky and me. It takes my photo and then when it normally lets me crop it just sits there and goes no further. I even tried auto crop. :) I am going to contact Brent and see if I can find out what's going on. It happened at another link party as well.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing your delightful Christmas!!
hugs,
Jann
You really do the best vignettes Carol! Oh I love my Maileg pixies and they will be moving into the living room this week as I continue to decorate! Hugs!

I love every charming detail! Beautiful!
ReplyDeleteYou home is magical! I could spend hours within these cottage walls. Love all the red and white and those Maileg pixies have stolen my heart. I have a mini one that hangs on our tree, gifted me from a friend last Christmas. I think some more may need to take up residence here. '-)
ReplyDeleteKim sent me over...what a charming Christmas home you have! Everything looks wonderful and I really liked the note to Santa.

Your home is exquisite and completely charming. I don't have any vignettes yet, but maybe I'll have some by Christmas.
ReplyDeleteThe white canvas of your walls has added such a sublime edge to your décor of color dearest Carol! I am enjoying every corner, room and angle! Ahhhh, the fresh, white image of snow, in your California cottage! Counting down the days my friend?
ReplyDeleteI have to say I am in love with those Christmas stockings.. and everything else!

Vera
Enjoy your wonderfully decorated home sweet home.
All of these things you've pulled out and described their memories of, Carol, are what Christmas is truly all about. Oh my gosh, shush, your Santa is not ugly! He's adorable, and so were you in the 70s, crafting away. Every turn has a memento...the chair, the books, the pixies....of those who form who we are...such a sweet Christmas story with each. Thank you for co-hosting this party with Jann and the others. I love it. Merry Christmas to you & Steve & Miss Lulu!
ReplyDeleteXO,
Rita

Every single nook and cranny in your house looks wonderful!! You are lucky to have some family possessions too. I don't have one thing from either of my grandparents. You're right, our kitchen shelves do look very similar! Oh and I LOVE all your Maileg pixies! Basically I love it all!
ReplyDeleteHi Carol, Christmas in your cottage is beautiful, inspiring and just filled with cozy charm. I love all your vignettes and really need to go back and view it all again. I just love your decorating. Have a great rest of the week and last weekend before Christmas. xo

ReplyDeleteYour cottage looks wonderful for Christmas. I love the little garland above the window shelf in the dining room. I know it's a simple thing compared to all your beautiful decor, but somehow it caught my eye.
