I'm enjoying these last days of summer,
but there is just not enough time in the day for all the things I want to do.
The decorations for my high school reunion, just one week away, have been getting most of my attention lately,
but I carve out time each day for playing house.
The cosmos in the garden are particularly lovely right now
so I snipped a few to use in vignettes around the house.
Asparagus fern is taking over the garden
and instead of pruning and then tossing the greenery in the trash
I created a simple bouquet on the dining room table.
On Tuesday our new windows were installed (the painter can't start for another week)
and that left me with our old windows for a project (or two).
I want to turn the windows into a headboard for the guest room, but the question is, should the blue side of the windows face out
or should the headboard be white?
Then there is the question of whether the headboard should have the windows vertically - using both windows
or horizontally which would require only 1 window.
Lulu cast her vote for horizontal white,
but Steve is leaning toward blue so that's the way it will stay - until after the reunion.
Actually, Lulu and Steve don't care at all and they just want me to join them on the beach for the last days of summer.
Oh- I love the horizontal one!!! Can you put screw hooks (or something on the side of the window(s) that would allow you to hang them and change them back and forth for different seasons? I like BOTH the blue and the white. Blue is 'warmer' to me for the cooler months but I love the purity of the white, too. hmmm...that being said-I guess I am no help at all. lol
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful reunion. I am going to my first one ever this month. Crazy!!!! xo Diana
Carol, I agree with Diana. I would use both colors for different times. I loved the last photo of your wonderful husband and dog. You have the good life sweet lady. Blessings to all. xoxo, Susie
ReplyDeleteLove the windows as a headboard. I'm with Steve on using the blue, but...I'm loving the vertical windows. I love reading your posts...keep them coming! Enjoy your class reunion, I've been to several of mine and always have a good time. :)
ReplyDeleteCythia
I agree with Steve on the blue, but I also really like the idea of using screw hooks or something so you could change then as needed.
ReplyDeleteI also like the blue. You can always switch for different seasons, etc.
ReplyDeleteIt is always fun to see what you are doing there.
You are blessed living where you do.
Have a lovely Sunday ~ FlowerLady
have one side blue and one side white and mix them up whenever you want. My gosh you have such a huge talent for creating vignettes - I'm quite envious.
ReplyDeleteHave a happy weekend Carol!
That is, one side of each window should be white and one side of each window blue. Not one window white and one window blue. :)
ReplyDeleteI'm no help, I love it either way! Enjoy these last days of summer! Your reunion should be fun!
ReplyDeletehugs!
I also like the last days of summer, as it's time to think of winter :)
ReplyDeleteThe 1st photo is my favorite! BEAUTIFUL
I alsp really like you dining table
Blue and white - I also think that one side sould be white and one side blue :)
I'm sure, Carol, with your creative mind and talent, you will find a way to interchange them and everybody will be happy! They are pretty each way. Love the use of your asparagus fern! Happy Summer Days and enjoy your reunion! Blessings, Cindy xo
ReplyDeleteI love the blue. It is perfect with you living at seaside!
ReplyDeleteI love the blue too. With your ocean cottage it will be perfect. Love all the pics today.
ReplyDeleteYour vignettes are so pretty.
Hugs,
Kris
I'm voting for the blue (not that I don't love the white, too). And I think the horizontal look is great, but really, they look lovely in all the photos. I'm crushing on that fern in your dining room!
ReplyDeleteI vote for the blue. I have always loved all the color in your home.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy the sweet end of summer. I love seeing those cosmos. O grow the every year and they are growing well now, too.
ReplyDeleteI love the idea of blue---there are so many shades...I have three going on in rooms at the lake.
Enjoy the process of getting ready for your reunion. You want to step back and enjoy the party!
Jane
Your reunion decorations look wonderful. And I love the use of the old windows, and would change them every so often as you like change anyway. I love your asparagus fern bouquet, and a the first photo is amazing. Did you carry that down to the beach just to photograph it? I'm guessing you did! Lovely.
ReplyDeleteTeeehee....both Steve and Miss L. have great taste and I SAY, change out ALL of these configurations! Show the white side during the winter months, show the blue side during the summer. One window for a few weeks, both for another few weeks. Oh Carol, your new windows are wonderful! What color will they be...WHITE?
ReplyDeleteCarol, I love your last days of summer...the cosmos just so pretty! The window headboard is charming either way you go! Pam @ Everyday Living
ReplyDeleteWhat a great post , filled with a lot of eye candy!! Thanks so much for all your visits!! We will finally be getting more seasonable Fall weather this week! I can't wait and I will be starting my Fall decorating!!
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Deb
I just love your old windows as a headboard! I vote for the horizontal blue too. It adds just the right touch.
ReplyDeleteYeah, what Nana Diana said. I love cosmos, too. Yours are so pretty! We replaced our pitiful looking petunias with cosmos to tide us over until it's pansy season.
ReplyDeleteHi carol,,, muy bonitas imágenes , me encantan esas contraventanas como respaldo ,, que tengas un lindo día
ReplyDeleteNo help from me, either, as I like them...period...too cute
ReplyDeleteYou are right Carol there is never enough time ... But you use your time beautifully. You create from your heart and it shows.
ReplyDeletexoxo,
Vera
Love the look of the windows-turned-headboard...and I agree with Steve about using the blue one! Looks fantastic.
ReplyDeleteI really like the blue but of course white lends itself to every accent piece. However! Since you use the delightful primary colors, it could work! I love that chair at the surf's edge.
ReplyDeleteMary
I liked them vertical and I also liked the idea of being able to use both colors. It is a great idea!
ReplyDeleteYour plans for your reunion look great. That's a good idea to reuse the window frames. Did you have to carry the chair far in the first picture? Sarah x
ReplyDeleteLove the window frame turned head board! I love the white but why not use both? Turn them around and you have a different look. Love that beach too. That sand looks very inviting.
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Sandi
Your photos are always captivating! I just love the vignettes you create around your home. I really like all the ways you displayed the windows as headboards but I think I vote for horizontal white too. So beautiful! Have a lovely week and enjoy the last days of summer!
ReplyDeleteI love the photos! Such an inspiring place!
ReplyDeleteIt is the year of the reunions I guess. My 45th takes place this weekend. And I am busy packing suitcases as I soon will be playing house in Greece again so your photos have inspired me to find room in the bags for just a couple more 'cute things'!! Enjoy your reunion~
ReplyDeleteI like the colors! Great post and nice photos!
ReplyDeleteI like the blue as well as the white. Maybe leave them that way so you can change them around as you feel.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy the last days of summer with your loved ones :)
Choices are fun and looks like you have many with your windows. I like them all!! :)
ReplyDeleteThe blue is lively. Brings a bit of the water right into the room.
ReplyDeleteThe first picture of the stool by the water just made me say wow. Such beaut y you live by and seeing Steve at t he beach with Lulu was priceless. I love the windows horizontal to and the blue speaks you.
ReplyDeleteCindy
The last days of summer are always the most cherished. Better join LuLu and Steve . . .
ReplyDeleteCosmos are such light flowers, I love how they look in your decor. I hope you're not expecting me to choose between white and blue my two favourite colours?
ReplyDeleteI'm with Steve I kinda like the blue best. But horizontal or vertical...Can't decide. Change it monthly. LOL
ReplyDeleteHope you joined them on the beach
