I take pictures . . .

If anyone asks me what I do now that I am retired,

I simply say, " I take pictures".

Thursday an old high school friend (we're having our 50th reunion in a few months) dropped in for lunch - she is staying nearby for a few weeks.

I set the table in the garden and then I grabbed my camera.

I took photos standing by my garden house looking toward the back of the house.

I stood behind the table looking at the garden house.

I stood by the back fence and looked back at the house.

I stood by the chaises and looked back at the fence.

I know, way too many photos, but it's fun to try different angles.

On Friday we headed north to San Luis Obispo to see our daughter, KC, who was down this way for a wedding.

We were invited to join in on the Welcome Wine Tasting event and I was so excited when we pulled up to Sextant Wines in the Edna Valley.

I was the designated driver and while everyone else was indoors tasting wine,

I was walking around with my iPhone.

It didn't matter which direction I was looking,

everywhere I looked there was something

for me to photograph.

I had a great time

doing what I love -

taking pictures.

And now, it's time for our walk and I will be sure to bring along my phone because I never know when I will see something worth photographing.

. . . . . . . . . .

You need to be taking photos too because it's time for another Garden Party and we hope you join in.

  19. I hear ya my friend. I see what you mean, I feel what you are feeling. My poetry is in words, my vision in photos. Now with school coming to a close (two weeks!), I am planning my photo shoots, but I'm unable to fulfill those visions at the moment. But there is nothing more relaxing than to observe the world, tell about it, show it.

    LOVE YOUR PHOTOS!

  20. You can't help yourself, can you ? and I'm the same way. It's sort of like seeing frames everywhere you look. The beauty draws you in and you reach for the camera. There are even more now as a camera (phone) is always in our pocket. :-) Enjoyed your photos, as always.

  24. Hi Carol, your photos are always an inspiration. I am completely in love with the white picket fences in the front yards. We just got back from a week on Coronado Island and I just love the fences and the gorgeous flowering yards in the front of the cottages. I wish we could do that here. Maybe in our backyard.
    Thanks for taking pics!!! xo

  25. Never too many photos from you, I can't get enough! Re: San Luis Obispo, have you read any of Susan Branch's recent books (she spent her 20s in that town) - the books are SO fascinating, I couldn't get enough of those either ;) See her website (www.susanbranch.com) to see her life-story two-volumes ... and then there's another of her travels through England. I found all of them at the library but honesty, they're so good I plan to buy them from Amazon.

  26. I find it so interesting that people must 'do' something. I am writing a blog post on the topic next week contrasting how in America we feel so compelled to be somewhere or to be doing something and in Greece it is just the opposite, there they can spend hours sharing coffee or watching the sea or working or whatever, but no one ever asks about 'what do you do?' or 'what did you do?' A great post, I enjoyed it.
