With spring almost here, it's time for spring cleaning.

Flowers are my favorite way to fluff, but until the garden is in full bloom, I need the help of Trader Joe's.
One bouquet of asters went far - a few on the mantel,
a few in a bucket and

The bouquet is part of my Easter vignette
complete with chalk eggs in a wire chicken I bought in Tijuana 40 years ago.
Snips of flowers grace old spoons that have been passed down several generations.
They are engraved with Carl and Bates - quite close to my maiden name - Carol Bates.

I stretch the life of flowers by drying them - the bunny salt and pepper shakers I just received from an Instagram friend Kim of @kimih801 keep the Easter theme going in the entry.
A few wooden and ceramic eggs found their way into the dining room - dried roses and hydrangeas add color to the shelves.

Yesterday, our walk was at Rincon (referred to in Surfin' USA by the Beach Boys) and all the shells and sea glass were found on the beach.
It's pouring down rain as I type this late at night and more rain is expected so it looks like I will be fluffing on a rainy day again tomorrow.

The dried flowers added a little whimsey to the adorable little animals. Every time I read your posts I can almost smell the sea breezes and salty air.

ReplyDeleteAfter the wettest winter on record, this gloomy Pacific Northwest is finally showing signs of spring. . .daffodils are among the bursts of color outside my window. You've inspired me to add some color inside as well.

It is definitely looking Springy at the beach cottage. I love all of the decor. You made great use of one bundle of Asters.
ReplyDeleteIt would be hard to choose a favorite image. Maybe the yellow daffodils in the blue bowl (love that color combination.) So I guess it does rain there occasionally!

Carol, I read that a hugs system was moving into the west coast off the Pacific. Guess it is moving across the country as we are predicted to have 80% chance of rain all this next week. We can certainly use it!

ReplyDeleteHow delighted you must be with rain ... I like your highs and low levels in different vessels for the Asters. The levels adds a punch of visual interest. Color is exciting too. Love your wire chicken and holy moly how many years I purchased those pastel side walk chalk eggs for the Grands Easter baskets and never did I think of displaying them! Hey live and learn.

Hi Carol, I loved seeing what all you've been up to on your rainy day! You have a lot more flowers blooming at your house then I do here. Just mini daffodils and mini iris. How nice to be able to take a quick trip to the beach for a walk, seashells are one of my favorite things. Your wire chicken basket looks adorable with those chalk eggs in it! The spoons are fun too, to have them so close to your maiden name. :)
