In January, I did a post about my decorating resolution for 2012.
I love my sofa as it is, but the fabric is wearing thin after 7 years, 1 dog and numerous washings.
I love my buffalo check chair, but the arms are shredded from the cat ( no longer with us) scratching it years ago.
It seems like an easy task-
simply choose some fabric and make new slipcovers.
I want to keep my color palette of red, yellow and blue with a little green.
Our cottage is small, and I want the fabric of the sofa, chair and pillows to coordinate with the fabric of the window seat in the dining room.
I need to eventually redo the window seat cushion, but I know I won't feel much like sewing for awhile after completing the slipcovers.
I began searching in earnest, actually going to stores and not just looking on-line, in June.
I have literally found nothing that meets my color requirements.
So, yesterday I decided that I was going to simply make white slipcovers and use color for the pillows.
That required a drive into Los Angeles this morning.
Mission accomplished.
24 yards of white duck canvas for slipcovers.
Blue buffalo check, red and yellow for pillows.
Love the blue, like the red.
Like the yellow, but I think it clashes with the walls.
I will go ahead and make 1 yellow pillow.
But, I will continue to search for a fabric with red, yellow, blue and green.
12 yards of zipper and 36 yards of cording.
Existing slipcover taken apart to make a pattern.
I am ready.
The factory opens tomorrow morning at 8:00 a.m. when we return from our beach walk.
Let the work begin.

Happy Sewing hope your boss lets you take breaks :-), looking forward to seeing the results. Annie
ReplyDeleteI made one slipcover last year for the first time and I said never again :) Good luck with your sewing project. White is such a good background and makes it easy to change things. I do love the red buffalo check chair! I've been looking for one for quite some time.
ReplyDeleteI just love your little cottage by the sea. I know whatever you come up with will be wonderful!
